Groß Gerungs - an arena of strength
The impressive stone pyramid lies in Neuwald near Ober Neustift and consists of circular tiers of stone reaching a total height of 6.8 m. The diameter of the lowest tier amounts to 16.5 m, of the highest tier 7.2 m. The geomantic lines, arranged in the form of a star, make this spot what it is namely a very special field of strength. To this day nobody knows when and to what purpose it was built - it remains a mystery.
Two raised observation points enable visitors to get a good look at the pyramid which is protected by a wooden fence. The pyramid is located 1.4 km from the car park and 11 km from Groß Gerungs.

The round shape of this monadnock, which has a diameter of 7 metres and weighs a substantial 500 tonnes, is reminiscent of a globe. It is situated near Ober Rosenauerwald on the way to Rosenau Castle. This positively charged area has bio-energetic information which neutralises the electro-magnetic handicap experienced by a large percent of the population. This phenomenon has been scientifically researched by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute. The twenty-minute walk to the globe is dedicated to the theme “symbiosis forest”. The globe is 4 km from the car park (cars and minibuses) and 6 km from Groß Gerungs.
Situated in the middle of a group of trees to the northwest of Groß Gerungs near the village of Thail stands a striking 3 m high sacrificial stone with a unusually large sacrificial basin. It is not clear whether this large aesthetically pleasing basin is man-made or whether it was formed by the elements. On the way to this stone there are wonderful views of the typical strip farmland of the Waldviertel uplands and visitors can appreciate just how many boulders there are in this region. There is also a wooden telephone that transmits sound waves as well as a humming stone that transforms sounds into physical vibrations. This site is 500 m from the car park and 1.2 km from Groß Gerungs.
This natural monument, located in the forest between Böhmsdorf and Wurmbrand, is 6 m long and rests on four large blocks of stone. On the top of the stone there is a basin which is approximately 40 cm deep and always full of rainwater. The marked place next to the rock has a positive and balancing effect on the vegetative nervous system.
Listening post - two impressive horns enable visitors to listen to the sounds of the forest when lying on the ground. Situated 900 m from the car park (cars and minibuses) and 4.5 km from Groß Gerungs.

Try and move 24 tonnes! A 24-tonne block of stone, which can just about be moved by one person, lies on the way to the Klaus Chapel in one of the most attractive areas in the vicinity of Groß Gerungs . The uphill side of this boulder provides a resting place and shelter from bad weather - the ideal place to relax and learn about the river habitat. Legend has it that whoever succeeds in getting the bell beside the Klaus Chapel to ring three times by pulling on the rope only once can make a wish which will come true. The boulder is only 280 m from the car park (cars and minibuses) and 4 km from Groß Gerungs.
