Fishing in Gallien
“Gallien” (Gaul), situated near Horn between the villages of Pernegg and Mödring, is a recreation area for fishermen, nature-lovers and families with children.
Enjoy a pleasurable day fishing in Gallien! Indulge in the world's most relaxing hobby in beautiful surroundings. Not only are experienced fishermen welcome in Gallien but also beginners who will be given a short introduction to trout and carp fishing if required. For a small price visitors can also hire fishing rods, and fish in one or both of the two fish ponds.
One of the ponds contains rainbow and salmon trout plus a few small carp; the other contains carp, amur catfish, silver carp, pike, sturgeon and pike-perch. The ponds are fed with clear spring water and the fish are regularly fed, ecologically kept and replaced with high value species. The dates for night fishing and the annual fish harvest festival are listed on our homepage www.gallien.at.
The waterside restaurant with covered terrace serves Waldviertel specialities and fish dishes and is open from May to September (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and the first Sunday in the month). While the adults can relax and enjoy their meal in the restaurant the children can let off steam outside, running about and playing to their heart's content, climbing on ropes and storming the palisades in the adventure playground built to resemble the most famous village in Gaul. Should an afternoon in Gallien be too short, you could consider staying overnight in the new holiday accommodation.
