Premonstratensian Chapter of Canons, Geras
The monastery, surrounded by numerous fish ponds, was founded in 1153, taking on its present-day mainly Baroque identity between the middle of the 17th and 18th centuries under the influence of, among others, J. Munggenast. The ceiling and altar paintings in the basilica (F. Zoller and F. A. Maulbertsch) and the paintings in the marble hall (Paul Troger) are a feast for the eyes. The interiors of the recently renovated monastery are as rich as the variety of art and creative courses on offer.
