Seventeen new routes have been included in the latest edition of the map “Das Südliche Waldviertel – Ysper-Weitental“ (the southern Waldviertel - Ysper-Weitental) which now encompasses a total of 62 hiking tours. In addition to the 1:40,000 map the 36-page guide provides both a general overview and detailed information of these tours. Walkers will find detailed descriptions of the municipalities and routes, leisure tips, general information and suggestions for restaurants and places to rest along the way. Pilgrimage routes to Maria Taferl and those sections of the long-distance hiking routes which pass through this region are also described. As the first region in Austria, the southern Waldviertel was awarded the Austrian Quality Seal in January 2009 for its excellence in promoting hiking as a leisure pursuit.
