The Waldviertel has established itself as a hiking region. The southern Waldviertel is the first region in Austria to be awarded the Austrian Quality Seal for hiking. Furthermore, the Waldviertel is one of the partner regions of the “Osterreichische Wanderdörfer” (Austrian hiking villages) initiative and of “Österreich. Von Natur aus Wandern” (Austria - hiking, naturally).
