Martinsberg

Description

The market town of Martinsberg is situated at an altitude of 825 m in the middle of the beautiful meadows and forests of the Waldviertel.

Numerous hiking trails and mountain bike routes in the surroundings of Martinsberg invite you to take part in sporting activities and enjoy nature.

Special sights include the Martinsberg Astronomical Center (AZM), the Martinsberg parish church and Lake Edlesberg. Our younger guests can let off steam to their heart's content on the large playground directly in Martinsberg. There is also a tennis court and a beach volleyball court.

Worth mentioning in the parish church are the late Gothic Madonna above the side altar, which was dedicated to St. Martin as early as 1140, and a medieval pillory in the park next to the church.

Prof. Josef Elter erected a monument in this park to mark the 850th anniversary. This bronze fountain represents the connection between man and tree. Four bronze sculptures (ears of grain, pine cones, acorns and poppy capsules) are arranged around the fountain as a symbol of the environment on which the people here live.

The Martinssaal next to the parish church regularly hosts events, concerts and cabarets organized by the cultural association. You can find the current program at www.kulturinmartinsberg.at. The hall can also be rented for private parties and celebrations.

Furthermore, there is 1 inn, 1 parlor, 2 department stores including a hardware store, butcher's shop, products from various direct marketers such as eggs, meat and vegetables. Direct marketers such as eggs, spelt, poppy seeds and organic vegetables, a doctor with a pharmacy, dentist, petrol stations, car mechanic, bank (ATM), post office partner in the municipal office, hairdresser, biogas plant, mechanics, plumbers, carpentry, sawmills, pellet production, transport company, taxidermist and an artist who creates remarkable sculptures mainly from wood and stone.
