Unserfrau - Altweitra

Description

The municipality of Unserfrau-Altweitra lies in the Lainsitztal valley, on the B41 and has a stop on the Waldviertler Schmalspurbahn (Gmünd - Gr. Gerungs). There is an elementary school, a kindergarten, churches and chapels, three village inns and a discotheque.

In addition to several small businesses, there is also a concrete plant, a combined heat and power plant, a petrol station, a sawmill and a car and agricultural machinery workshop in the municipality.

In 2004, the Lower Austrian provincial government awarded the municipality a municipal coat of arms with the following description: "Divided by gold and green in a wavy pattern,

at the top two red heraldic roses with golden bosses

and silver sepals, below raised a silver wavy bar

a silver wavy bar, in the base of the shield a silver potato blossom."

At the same time, the municipal colors "green-yellow" were approved.

The meaning of the symbols of the coat of arms:

The 2 roses stand for the two Marian churches in Unserfrau and in Heinrichs.

The potato blossom is a reminder of the first potato cultivation in Austria under Empress Maria Theresa in Pyhrabruck.

The silver wavy bar in the middle symbolizes the Lainsitz, the yellow color the fruit of the fields (grain) and green indicates the forest.

There is a lively club life in the municipality, and the traditional music band is also very active.

There is a wide variety of sports on offer, such as tennis, baseball, street soccer or beach volleyball, shooting sticks, hiking, running, horse riding, cycling, fishing ...
