Granitschmuck Reinhart Kartusch
Handicraft
Description
"The granite that we use and process into necklaces, bracelets and earrings is quarried exclusively in the Waldviertel and Mühlviertel regions. For example, the light gray "Neuhauser" granite comes from the Mühlviertel, the dark gray is found near Gmünd and the reddish-brown comes from the Nebelstein near Weitra," explains Reinhart Kartusch, whose creativity made it possible to transform the granite from primary rock to precious stone. It took enough perseverance, sophisticated craftsmanship and a good dose of patriotism before the first granite blanks could be given a "higher" purpose.
Uhren-Schmuck Kartusch was founded in 1955 by master watchmaker Paul Kartusch. In 1998, the trained goldsmith Reinhart Kartusch took over the business and set up a goldsmith's workshop in addition to the shop. This is where the unique jewelry creations with various gemstones and local granite are made. The "Waldviertler Urgestein" is mostly unpolished and processed with gold and silver into precious pieces of jewelry, each of which is unmistakably unique. Granite also takes center stage in the individually assembled stone necklaces from the Kartusch workshop. Bead chains in all shapes and sizes are combined with a wide variety of stones, silver and gold intermediate parts, because the gray-white structure of granite is timeless and suits every fashion trend.
