Himmelteich bei Ottenschlag
Fishing, Outdoor adventure
Description
The Himmelteich pond near Ottenschlag is a real paradise for anglers and nature lovers. The six-hectare pond is home to large fish such as carp, pike, trout, tench and zander. Thanks to two clear forest springs, the pond has excellent water quality - ideal conditions for impressive catches: pike up to 13 kilos, catfish up to 18 kilos and carp up to 10 kilos are not uncommon here.
The fishing season runs from April to mid-October. Fishing permits are available from the Ottenschlag municipal office. The idyllic Himmelteich attracts visitors all year round who are looking for peace, nature and relaxation. Surrounded by reed beds and moorland, the pond with its mirror-smooth water surface is reminiscent of a Swedish forest lake - a real highlight in the Waldviertel.
Hikers and cyclists also get their money's worth here: the family-friendly circular tour from Martinsberg (approx. 23 km) leads directly past the Himmelteich. If you prefer to walk, choose the pond hike from Ottenschlag, which connects both the Himmelteich and Weyrerteich ponds in around three hours.
In addition to the Himmelteich, the Klausteich and other ponds in the Waldviertel also invite you to spend a relaxing day by the water
