Skulptur „Eberkopfjüngling mit Pflug“
Description
The exceptional Swiss artist Daniel Spoerri created "Idols of modern times" with his "Prillwitz Idols" series. He sculpted bronze figures from found objects to create mystical and bizarre creations. The artwork "Young boar's head with plow" is from this series.
The object "Young boar's head with plow" can be understood as a link to times long past: Even among the Celts, the wild boar, especially the male boar, was a symbol of strength. The cultivation of the land is expressed in the plow. The young boar may stand for energy and faith in the future. And the fusion of man and animal finds its counterpart in the hybrid creatures of Greek mythology.
Daniel Spoerri is a visual artist and founder of "Eat Art". He created the sculpture park "Il Giardino di Daniel Spoerri" in Tuscany. Spoerri became world-famous with his "trap pictures" ("tableaux piège"), remnants of a meal or other everyday situation fixed to tabletops.
In 1970, the object artist had one of his sculptures cast in bronze for the first time. On the one hand, this was for practical reasons - a bronze sculpture is also suitable for outdoor use - on the other hand, the different materials used by Spoerri were to be unified in this way.
Daniel Spoerri once called himself a "henchman of chance". It is also thanks to chance that the artist found his exhibition space in nearby Hadersdorf/Kamp. A former monastery building there became an "art storage facility". Spoerri's works and those of other artists are presented here.
The stand for the "Young Boar's Head with Plough" on the traffic circle in Wiener Straße was designed by a team from the Langenlois Horticultural School using natural stone, granite blocks and dry grasses and was created as part of the "Garden Summer Lower Austria 2021".
