Sternwarte Höhenberg

The Höhenberg Observatory of the Waldviertel Astronomical Society is located in Großdietmannsdorf at an altitude of 637 meters above sea level. It consists of a five-metre-high brick tower and an aluminum dome - built in the style of the late 19th century and equipped with historical telescopes. A spacious parking lot surrounds the popular Excursion destinations. However, the observatory is best reached on foot - via the small planet hiking trail. Exciting guided tours and other events are on the program throughout the year.

Important note for all stargazers coming by car: Please turn off your high beam headlights when approaching the observatory.
