Ruine Dobra

Ruins

Description

The mighty ruins of Dobra Castle lie on a promontory that extends far into the Dobra reservoir. It was once the ancestral seat of a branch of the ministerial dynasty of the Lords of Dobra and was first mentioned in documents in 1278. The elongated, spacious complex has two entrances to the north and south.
During a visit, you can experience the atmosphere of the Middle Ages up close between the old ruin walls, cellar vaults and towers! The keep of the ruins has been converted into a viewing tower. From here, visitors can enjoy a beautiful view over the Kampsee Dobra.

The "Pölla Aktiv" association leased the Dobra ruins from the Windhag Scholarship Foundation in 1996 to make them accessible to the public again and to create an attractive destination for visitors by using the keep as a lookout tower. After several stages of renovation, the work was completed at the opening of the Viertelfestival 2010 and the new premises were officially put into operation.

In the north-eastern part of the ruins there is an event room with an adjoining outdoor terrace and sanitary facilities. The event room can accommodate around 100 people and can be hired for various celebrations and weddings. Various cultural events also take place here on a regular basis.

The ruins are freely accessible all year round from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm.
The door to the keep is open, please pay the entrance fee into the donation box by the staircase.
