Valuable pieces of jewelry usually have their masterful beginnings in a stone-cutting workshop. A craft that experienced its heyday in the Renaissance and had to give way to industrial processing in the 20th century. Not so with Christian Riedel: since 1991, the trained goldsmith has been involved in the art of stone cutting and passes on his fascination to guests and course participants.
"My love for the stones should be tangible through my cuts - they should radiate positive energy and bring joy!" says Christian Riedel. The trained goldsmith and only gemstone cutter in the Waldviertel is undoubtedly a "masterful rarity". His workshop in Irnfritz-Messern, the "Waldviertler Lapidärie", is considered a highlight for gemstone fans. Riedel is happy to pass on his knowledge to interested parties in guided tours and courses. As a gemologist and scientific specialist for gemstones, he also offers expert advice.
