Weißenbachklamm

Outdoor adventure

Description

The Weißenbachklamm gorge near Zwettl is a hidden natural gem with picturesque miniature waterfalls, granite boulder seas and lush greenery. Still largely undiscovered, the gorge impresses with its wildly romantic, pristine atmosphere - ideal for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts.

The gorge is easy to explore: The nature trail no. 3 connects Zwettl with the Uttissenbachmühle in around three hours over a distance of around nine kilometers. If you want to experience more, choose the Riesensteig trail no. 20, a circular route via the Hoher Stein, the Weißenbachklamm and the Robotstein. A longer option is the Hundertwasserweg, which is around 17 kilometers long and takes around four and a half hours to hike.

A highlight is the imposing Jahnfelsen, a huge granite block formed by millions of years of frost blasting and wool sack weathering. Named after the father of gymnastics Friedrich Jahn, the rock appears to have been stacked by giant hands.

The gorge's small waterfalls reveal their full beauty after rain or snowmelt. Plan enough time to enjoy nature in peace and quiet. A special experience is the combination with the Große Kampschlucht gorge or a detour into the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German) between Zwettl and Roiten.

The Weißenbachklamm gorge hike thus offers pure nature, impressive landscapes and unforgettable views - an insider tip for all those who love pristine forest landscapes.
