Description
The Waldviertler Schmalspurbahn Verein operates nostalgic transport with the flair of the 70s and 80s on the 13-kilometre Alt Nagelberg - Heidenreichstein line.
Climb aboard and enjoy a ride off the beaten track through the seemingly endless forests of the Waldviertel. Visit the largest preserved medieval moated castle in Lower Austria in Heidenreichstein, visit the famous glass-blowing workshop in Alt Nagelberg or use the trains for hiking and cycling tours in the area - your bike travels with you free of charge, of course.
During the leisurely ride on the Wackelstein Express, you can take care of your physical well-being in the snack wagon or relax in the open observation car and enjoy the unspoiled landscape. The trains are hauled by historic diesel locomotives of the 2091 series. During the summer season, our scheduled trains offer connections to the Waldviertelbahn with travel options to/from Gmünd. Experience the famous double excursions with two trains in Alt Nagelberg.
