Nebelsteinhütte
Lodge / hutDescription
The Nebelstein (1017 m) in Moorbad Harbach is one of the highest mountains in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel and is known for its beautiful views and the rock formations in the summit area. The Nebelsteinhütte is owned by the Waldviertel section of the Austrian Alpine Association (OeAV) and is located at an important intersection of many long-distance hiking trails. In the late fall of 1947, the landowners from the Haus zu Fürstenberg in Weitra gave their consent to the construction of the Nebelsteinhütte and on November 25, 1948, you could already read about the completion of the OeAV's first hut after the Second World War in the newspaper. Various renovations and modernizations gave the hut its current appearance.
Not only from the summit, but also from the terrace of the hut, which is open from April to October, you can enjoy the view far into the countryside.
Karin Hruska, the tenant of the hut, takes care of the gastronomic offer at the hut and offers freshly prepared home-style and hut food. Karin Hruska's team was in the Gault Milaut in 2019 and achieved 3 Edelweis in Falstaff in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
