Description

It is not only the gray poppy seed that thrives particularly well in the dewy climate of the Waldviertel. Together with carp and potatoes, it has a long tradition in Waldviertel cuisine. These specialties are used to create honest and authentic dishes in the kitchen of the "Waldviertler-Hof" inn in Langschlag in the Zwettl district. Landlady Augusta Mayerhofer cooks personally and knows all too well what is popular in her region: large portions and flavorful protagonists. One recommendation is the stuffed farmer's steak. When it comes to fish dishes, it is the fried Waldviertel carp that best represents the region in terms of taste. For dessert, the homemade poppy seed pancakes are a winner.

Original Waldviertel

The Waldviertler-Hof has been in existence since 1970 and was renovated in the early 1990s. It is an expressive house with several cozy parlors, where families, senior citizens and bus groups like to stop by. The charm of this rustic inn is the combination of warm hospitality, modesty and great cuisine. Jams and syrups are produced in-house and there is a close exchange with suppliers from the region. The wine list is a prime example of a confident and regional selection. After food and drink, guests are given a taste of the original Waldviertel. How fitting: the mystical places of the Kraftarena Groß Gerungs are in the immediate vicinity and the Langschlag rock formations are also absolutely worth seeing.
