Brief description

The Pond Cycle Route is a circular cycling route and part of the regional cycling concept of the 6-Senses Cycle Routes ("Hearing") of the Zukunftsraum Thayaland.

Description

Frogs, crickets, and forest voices accompany you on the Pond Cycle Route. You start in Waidhofen/Thaya at the train station and follow the two top cycle routes Thayarunde-South and KTM cycle route to Windigsteig or to Schwarzenau Modlischmühle. From there via Sparbach to Vitis or Kaltenbach, with gourmet cuisine or traditional local cuisine at the main square. The first bathing pond before Jetzles offers you cooling refreshment. After Edelprinz, forest patches, meadows, and small farms present you a cultural landscape beauty. At Seyfrieds, the Winkelauer pond awaits you. Wooden pond and Flohteich later announce Pfaffenschlag - there the landscape fulfills pure Waldviertel romance. Ponds as places of rest for fulfilling moments. Through the villages of Griesbach, Sarning, and Brunn it goes back to Waidhofen/Thaya.

Ponds along the route with three bathing ponds - fruit tree path in Vitis - Schwarzenau Castle - fish sales at Teichwirt Kainz in Waidhofen - exhibition at the WEB company site in Pfaffenschlag
