Brief description

The Ruins Cycling Route is a circular bike path and part of the regional cycling concept of the 6-Sense Cycling Rounds ("Seeing") of the Zukunftsraum Thayaland.

Description

The route starts in Karlstein an der Thaya with castle and palace and leads you from there to the ruins of Thayaland. Next, you reach the Buchenstein ruin near Liebnitz, where you can enjoy culinary delights at the Liebnitzmühle Hotel. Then you cycle on to the excavation site Sand, to soon reach the largest ruin complex in the region, the Kollmitz ruin, with a magnificent view far beyond the region. Full of energy, you continue to Weikertschlag with a local museum and river bath. Via Wetzlas you then return to Karlstein.

We recommend: helmet, suitable clothing and footwear, rain and sun protection, first aid kit, sufficient provisions (snack, muesli bars, fruit, water).
The route is suitable for city bikes, trekking bikes, e-bikes.

The route has approximately 80% asphalt and 20% gravel, mainly on lightly trafficked side paths.
