Brief description

Circular hiking trail no. 13 in Litschau

Entertaining hike with beautiful viewpoints!

Description

The hike leads us a bit along the Herrensee through the forest. A stone waymarterl and a little later the "Stone Way Column" line the further path through the varied, typical Waldviertel landscape to the legendary Fiedelstein.

According to legend, the devil once appeared there to some late fair-goers, who played wonderful melodies on the bowl stone with his fiddle. Overall, this is a very mystical area, as a bit later we pass through the "Wild Hunt", where frightening ghostly figures are also said to have caused mischief.

Then it goes back to the heart of Litschau, the Herrensee.

Route description To the Fiedelstein

The first 30 minutes the route runs together with route no. 12 along the Herrensee a bit to the left, then uphill to the resting place at the "Stone Way Column". Shortly afterwards the paths split, hiking trail number 13 leads straight past the Schauflerteich to the Fiedelstein.

Through the "Wild Hunt" it now goes to Hörmanns, directly into the village. After passing through it, the hiking trail turns right to the upper shore of the Herrensee; optionally, you can now walk back to the starting point of the hike either on the left or right side of the Herrensee.
