Schatzkammer der Basilika Maria Taferl

Museum

Description

The treasury of the Maria Taferl Basilica is a colorful and spiritual place - designed in the popular Baroque style, it conveys a profound connection between art, faith and history. The room is artistically painted: The ceiling depicts scenes from the story of Maria Taferl's origins, while the walls are adorned with votive pictures showing miraculous healings and salvations.

More than a museum or treasure house, this treasure chamber is a "vault of faith": The pieces on display are not simply sacred treasures, but tell personal stories of the faithful - gratitude, petitions or memories live on in every votive offering. Liturgical vestments, mass utensils and other religious objects complete the collection and reveal a rich treasure of sacred tradition.

The Treasury is open seasonally - typically from April 1 to October 31, daily from around 10:30 am to 4:30 pm - with slightly different times on Sundays and public holidays.

A visit to the treasury offers not only aesthetic pleasure, but also invites visitors to pause and reflect on the stories and faith dimension of the objects on display - a quiet glimpse into the deeply rooted devotion to Mary and the relationship many people have with this place of pilgrimage.

The basilica is one of the treasures of the Nibelungengau. All the other treasures full of enjoyment, variety and the best views can be discovered at www.nibelungengau.at!
