There is a lot going on in the SONNENTOR experience of the Waldviertel herb specialist, because SONNENTOR not only delights over 40,000 visitors every year with herbs and spices from organic farming, which are combined with great attention to detail and according to innovative recipes, but also creates new products and experiences year after year at the company site in the herb village of Sprögnitz.

A look behind the scenes at SONNENTOR, which was voted a Top Excursion Destination in 2017, is impressive. Regular guided tours through the production facility, which smells of fresh peppermint, oriental turmeric and spicy rosemary, show how SONNENTOR teas and spices are made and the impressive development of the company.The SONNENTOR store takes you on a sensory journey through the world of herbs and spices and invites you to try out the latest product ideas.

On the doorstep, the natural healers in the herb petting garden are happy to be caressed. If you want to indulge your urge to exercise, you can either get to know the stories of the world of herbs on the herb hiking trail, explore one of the Tut Gut! hiking trails or borrow an e-bike and take a bike tour into the surrounding area of the Sprögnitz herb village. You will always be rewarded with unforgettable views over the Waldviertel and recharged energy tanks.

In the Waldviertel, the sign of a free and independent farmer has always been Sonnentor, marked with 24 rays. This is not only the basis of SONNENTOR's company name, but also the foundation of Johannes Gutmann's vision. In today's world, SONNENTOR wants to show that a farm can be run in such a way that you can make a good living from it, even without chemical additives. In 2016, the idea of a permaculture organic farm was realized and the Frei-Hof was born.

The SONNENTOR organic farm Frei-Hof is cultivated under the premise of a natural cycle in permaculture farming with herbs, flowers, fruit and vegetables. The recurring life, letting nature take its course and taking time to understand are important components of this. The knowledge acquired is passed on to visitors during regular guided tours and seminars.

Taste nature at the Leibspeis' organic inn

Enjoyment and hospitality - all organic. This is the motto to which the Bio-Gasthaus Leibspeis' is committed. They focus on regionality and know their suppliers personally. Seasonal ingredients in particular are at the top of the menu and are transformed into creative culinary delights with a great deal of love and culinary flair. In addition to classic Austrian home cooking, guests can choose from a wide range of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The herbs and spices from the SONNENTOR cultivation partners provide the necessary spice. Directly adjacent to the restaurant's sunny terrace, little adventure fans can look forward to the Bio-Bengelchen garden with its giant hammock, sandpit and water playground.

SONNENTOR country loft: sleeping in the herb garden

Visitors can now spend a very special overnight break at SONNENTOR in the herb garden. The two SONNENTOR Land-Lofts Anna Apfelminze and Hans Hagebutte are nestled in the permaculture garden of the Frei-Hof organic farm. The two cozy caravans invite you to simply enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by greenery, take a vacation and keep an eye on your personal energy balance. In the country lofts, guests experience what it takes to simply live, simply enjoy and simply unwind in the cycle of nature. With 31 m2 each, Anna Apfelminze and Hans Hagebutte offer space for up to 4 adults or a family of five with children. The breakfast ordered is waiting fresh outside the Land-Loft door in the morning. Built from 100% sustainable and regional materials, the two country lofts offer an environment to feel good and recharge your batteries, making for unforgettable vacation adventures.

The extensive SONNENTOR seminar program offers inspiration, balance and further training. Experts from the fields of herbalism, health, horticulture, art and permaculture demonstrate sustainable solutions for your own living space. Johannes Gutmann himself captivates the audience during his talks and infects them with the SONNENTOR spirit.

About SONNENTOR:
SONNENTOR Kräuterhandels GmbH was founded in 1988 by Johannes Gutmann in the Waldviertel. The initial idea was to collect organic farm specialties and market them nationally and internationally under the logo of the laughing sun. Fair payment, respectful treatment of all partners and protection of the natural cycle of life are the company's philosophy. Today, the company, based in Sprögnitz near Zwettl, has 330 employees in Austria, 150 in the Czech Republic and exports its products to over 50 countries around the world. In Austria alone, around 300 organic farmers are currently working with Sonnentor. The joy grows.
